One Tough Chick

There's nothing more alluring than a confident, strong, feathered lady in a tiny black bikini.

Travelling Chickens

This Punk Cocker was born in Moab, Utah,
then moved across the pond to London, England,
where he now lives in a crazy bachelor's pad.

Here, he's pictured on holiday in Vienna
with his cohort, Alex. Lucky.

chickens around the world

Robok, enjoying the sea and sun,
near the village of Cassis in France.

After a much needed bath,
 he hangs out at home
 in Aix-en-Provence, France

xoxo to Robok and his new friend, Gaetan!

more for you mutha's

I'm trying some chickens without the words attached to the design. I can't decide whether to print them on the back, or below. I like it printed on back.

i love my creepy chicken mask

So, I finally started the etsy shop, and I decided to use my creepy chicken mask. I love it so. Here are some photo's of the shirt displays. I welcome any feedback on the etsy store, I'm new to all of it and I really am not good at peddling my wares.

I'm also going to work on some new chicken designs, once I get the store set up properly. Maybe another star wars character, Chew-Bok-A? Or a Batman character, The Yolker? Or something more obscure, David Cooperfield? A chicken doing magic delights me.

fowl shop

Thanks to those of you who have been expressing interest in ordering a shirt. With the end of school and upcoming vacation, I've decided to hold off opening the etsy site until June 22nd. I will then be able to devote more time and energy to my feathered friends. Until then, keep on cluckin'!

Hippy Chick

The winner of the poll was, Hippy Chick. She's one with the earth, lets her leg and armpit feathers flow freely, and sings and plays the guitar poorly but earnestly. She's part of an experimental commune flock where everyone pools their eggs which are then redistributed equally.

Fowl Festival

"Fowl Festival" meaning "bird" fowl, as in chickens, not foul as in "rank". The last two days were spent with the chicken shirts at the Arts Festival. I was curious to see how the fowl ladies and gents would do at their first outing with real purchasing people. It was quite entertaining watching everyone pass by and seeing their reactions to the shirts. I wanted to hide a video camera to capture the expressions, but we were quite a simplistic tent--no good hiding spots. Some people read the shirts, then their eyes opened wide with shock. Others read, then quickly averted their vision. Some even said things like, "Oh, my!", or, "Is that what I think it says?". So, there were some offended by the designs. Then, there were the festival-goers who were amused. They would laugh, sometimes loudly and juicily. Some people came back to the tent later to give me a new punny idea or two--which I jotted down in my idea book. And at this point in the blog, I'd like to bring the lights down low, and cue the soft music...Next, I'd like to take the opportunity to give a shout out to all the Arts Festival people out there (you know who you are) who were encouraging and supportive--thank you, thank you--you're all cluckin' awesome. I sold about a third of my shirts, half of the bags and a few cards here and there. I traded a shirt for some super cool glass earrings--thanks to Jodie, and one for a crocheted headband and plum jam--thanks to Katherine. delightful! It was a good experience overall. However, I must say that I'm a very bad salesman. I am trying to get my ETSY account open this week, I...will...try...to...be...entrepreneurial-ly...must...try...

And here are a few pictures:

Healthy Festival Food

I'm the "Mother-Cluckin"!
deep fried kit kat...disgusting
I was jealous of that man's
recliner chair in the background.
we had a fancy/classy egg-carton cash register
people stood in front of all these signs
and asked what my prices were.
"What does "fowl" mean?" I overhear
a perplexed lady ask her husband.
There were fun questions, like the one from
the Japenese tourist who asked Brian
why the chicken had teeth.

Arts Festival

I'm off to the Arts Festival with my chicken shirts. The whole reason I started learning to screen print was that I won the Festival's poster contest and got a free booth. I had done a few chicken designs and thought they would be fun shirts. So this is their first big public appearance, it could turn fowl, or people might dig the chicks--
wish me luck!

eggcellent color

Pop Art chickens. I wish I could think of a chickeny Andy Warhol pun... These screen prints were done on cardstock paper to try out different color combinations... I love them... Andy Warfowl? doesn't quite work.

cluckin' cards

I've done some card prints lately. I am definitely more comfortable printing on paper than on fabric. I'm trying to get as much done as I can for the Arts Festival this weekend.
